Cookies & Cream Cheesecake Cupcakes (In Mini)

Cheesecake. Cupcakes. Need I say more?
I'm not the biggest fan of chocolate, or Oreos, or snack/junk food. But my friend was having a Thanksgiving party the other day and I decided to do something nice and make some mini Oreo Cheesecake Cupcakes for the party. I do love cookies and cream, which is a little odd to think about when I don't really like Oreos all that much.

I had never made these before, and the original recipe called for regular sized cupcakes and regular Oreos. But because I like to make all of my cupcakes in "mini" form, these just had to be made mini, with Mini Oreo cookies.
I halved the original recipe (if you're making mini cupcakes you will get a little over the same original amount of cupcakes, but in mini form) and got about 42 mini cupcakes. The original makes about 30 regular sized ones.

Instead of chopping up the cookies into chunks I ground them very finely with my Magic Bullet food processor and mixed them into the cheesecake batter before putting into the cupcake liners.

Can I just say...

Wow! These were really good! I mean like, REALLY good! And they were a huge hit at the party. The fact that they were miniature probably helped with the cuteness factor, too.
Today I ended up using the same recipe only instead of Oreos I made them with blueberry preserves. I will put up those in an upcoming blog post. I'm sure you didn't come check out this post for blueberries, though.
So without further adieu, Cookies & Cream Cheesecake Cupcakes (In Mini):

Unfortunately I only took a picture of it when it was in the liner. But you can still see the Oreo :)

Cookies and Cream Cheesecake Cupcakes
Makes 42 mini cupcakes.

INGREDIENTS:

1 bag MINI Oreo cookies. 21 pulled apart (or 42 left whole), the rest finely chopped. A food processor works well for this.
1 pound cream cheese, room temperature
½ cup sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs, room temperature, lightly beaten
½ cup sour cream
Pinch of salt

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Line miniature muffin tins with mini paper liners. Place 1 whole cookie (or ½ cookie, logo side down) in the bottom of each lined cup.

2. With an electric mixer on medium high speed, beat cream cheese until smooth, scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Gradually add sugar, and beat until combined. Beat in vanilla.

3. Drizzle in eggs, a bit at a time, beating to combine and scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Beat in sour cream and salt. Stir in ground up cookies by hand.

4. Divide batter evenly among cookie-lined cups, filling each almost to the top, about ¾ full (they will puff up a little bit but quickly sink back down once taken out of the oven).

5. Bake, rotating pan halfway through, until filling is set, about 22 minutes. Cool cupcakes in the pan, or carefully remove and cool on wire racks. Refrigerate at least 4 hours (or up to overnight).
Tip: Since I was in a hurry I took the cupcakes out of the tins and put them on a metal baking sheet and popped it in the freezer. They were set after about 15-20 minutes.

Fluffy Pancakes with Honey Syrup

I wanted to make some pancakes the other day from scratch. I like to make things from scratch because then I know exactly what's in it. I think I have kind of a "control freak" problem with cooking. But I keep a pretty healthy diet that way it seems. I'm definitely not a health nut but I like to get into good eating habits.

I came across a recipe for fluffy pancakes and made them. They turned out pretty darn good, too. I wanted to make buttermilk pancakes but I didn't have any buttermilk. No worries, though; You pretty much make your own buttermilk for this recipe and use that. The original recipe didn't call for vanilla though, but I think vanilla is always necessary in pancakes. :) They didn't turn out like cardboard (which is the first sign that you're doing something right), and weren't too salty. I can't stand overly salty pancakes.
♥ I usually make pretty big pancakes. I halved the recipe and it made 2 nice big pancakes. If you have two people who like big pancakes I would say make this original recipe. If you're just making them for yourself just half the recipe and you'll be good. ♥
*Tip: How I halved the egg: crack and egg into a bowl and beat it. Then just pour half of it into the mix.

When I was done I realized that I didn't have any maple syrup. Uh-oh! So I decided to try and whip up some kind of sweet syrup to drench these bad boys in. I came up with the idea to microwave some honey and butter together and use that. It wasn't nearly as thick as maple syrup but it tasted really good, and I actually liked the fact that it soaked into the cakes and flavored the whole thing.

Fluffy From-Scratch Pancakes
INGREDIENTS:

3/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter, melted
cooking spray (I used olive oil, but you could use butter to grease the griddle, too)

HOW-TO:

Combine milk with vinegar in a medium bowl and set aside for 5 minutes to "sour".
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Whisk egg and butter into "soured" milk. Add vanilla. Pour the flour mixture into the wet ingredients and whisk until lumps are gone.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat, and coat with cooking spray. Pour 1/4 cupfuls of batter onto the skillet, and cook until bubbles appear on the surface. Flip with a spatula, and cook until browned on the other side.

Honey-Butter Syrup
INGREDIENTS:

Honey
Butter

HOW-TO:

Put some honey in a bowl with a little bit of butter.
Microwave for about 20 seconds.
Pour over pancakes.

It's Raining! Time to get out the camera!

You may not know it but I love love LOVE photography. I'm not an expert at it but I know enough to whip out my camera when I see a great visual moment and take some pretty good (in my opinion, at least) pictures.

I found a great opportunity today to take pictures, as it's been raining for most of the day. I especially love how raindrops look when they land on leaves and how light reflects off of the sky against the water. So pretty. I just thought I'd share some photos of the rain that I took today. Hope you enjoy :)

If you're wondering, these were taken with my Canon S95 in Manual Mode, with a little bit of post-processing.

NYX Studio Liquid Eyeliner Review

I just got a few new colors of these NYX Studio Liquid Eyeliners, so I thought I'd do a blog post about these little beauties.

Left to right: Extreme Black, Extreme Silver, Extreme Blue, Extreme Purple, Extreme Coffee, Extreme Gold, Extreme Green, Extreme Plum Purple

I've been using them for about a year and they have become my "go-to" eyeliners! They come in a wide, fun range of exciting metallic colors that have some serious lasting power.

They're very similar to MAC Liquidlast. They go on very easily, the wand is thin, the brush is thin and long, which makes it super easy to get a thin or thick precise line. They take a few extra seconds to dry, and when they're ready to come off they come off easily with eye makeup remover (my favorite: Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover).

They dry to a bit of a "rubbery" texture in a way, a little like eyelash glue. They can tend to flake off slightly but only if you wear your makeup to bed after a crazy party night ;P

Have to say....LOVE LOVE LOVE these!
I purchase mine off of ebay and get a great price on them. They're 3 liners for $11.10 from Joy017's store. She's got a whole slew of NYX products at great prices.

There are a couple of colors that I haven't gotten yet but will probably end up getting in the near future.

COLORS & THOUGHTS:
•Extreme Black - Dark opaque black; Thickest formula of all of the colors. Perfect.
•Extreme Silver - Very metallic; Slightly translucent; I get it more opaque with 2 coats, but just for more "shine" I'll do one coat.
•Extreme Blue - My favorite besides black; Super bright metallic blue; Gorgeous!
•Extreme Purple - Medium purple; Slightly translucent; Pretty metallic effect; I can't really get a fully opaque line if I put on 2 coats unfortunately.
•Extreme Plum Purple - Dark purple, Slightly metallic
•Extreme Coffee - Very opaque; Very metallic; Dark bronzed brown.
•Extreme Green - Very light metallic green; Looks almost neon in some lights; Slightly translucent.
•Extreme Gold - Very metallic; Opaque; Reminds me of a pot of gold!

Margarita Cupcakes with Tequila-Lime Buttercream Frosting

I found a great recipe for Margarita Cupcakes, tried them out, and they came out a-ma-zing.

These came out so good! They're more "limey" than "tequila-y" but oh-so-tasty. If you want more tequila in them, swap out a little of the buttermilk for more tequila. The second time I made these I added some lime zest to my frosting also, so they had little speckles of lime throughout.

Some of the fluffiest vanilla cupcakes I've had. Not too sweet and great texture. You can swap out the tequila for any other kind of liquor, too.

Margarita Cupcakes

Yield: 12 cupcakes
Prep Time: 25 minutes | Bake Time: 25 minutes

For the Cupcakes:
1½ cups all-purpose flour
1½ teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, at room temperature
Zest and juice of 1½ limes
2 tablespoons tequila
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup buttermilk

To Brush the Cupcakes:
1 to 2 tablespoons tequila

For the Tequila-Lime Frosting:
1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
2¾ cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon lime juice
2 tablespoons tequila
Pinch of coarse salt
1 drop green food coloring & 2 drops yellow food coloring for lime color (optional)

1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Line a standard muffin tin with paper liners; set aside.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.
3. In an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat the butter and sugar together until pale, light, and fluffy (about 5 minutes).
4. Reduce the mixer speed to medium and add the eggs one at at time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
5. Scrape the sides of the bowl and add the lime zest, lime juice, vanilla extract and tequila. Mix until combined. (The mixture may start to look curdled at this point, but don’t worry, it will all come back together, power on!)
6. Reduce the mixer speed low. Add the dry ingredients in three batches, alternating with the buttermilk in two batches. Mix only until just incorporated, using a rubber spatula to give it one last mix by hand.
7. Divide the batter between the muffin cups. Bake for approximately 25 minutes or until just slightly golden and a skewer shows only moist crumbs attached, rotating the pan at the halfway point.
8. Allow cupcakes to cool for 5 to 10 minutes, and then remove to a cooling rack. Brush the tops of the cupcakes with the 1 to 2 tablespoons of tequila. Set the cupcakes aside to cool completely before frosting them.

9. To make the frosting, whip the butter on medium-high speed of an electric mixer using the whisk attachment for 5 minutes. Reduce the speed to medium-low, and gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing and scraping the sides of the bowl until all is incorporated. Give it a mix on medium speed for about 30 seconds. Add the lime juice, tequila and salt mix on medium-high speed until incorporated and fluffy. Mix in the optional food colorings. If the frosting appears a bit too soft, add some additional sugar, one spoonful at a time until desired consistency is reached. Frost cupcakes and garnish, if desired, with lime zest, an additional sprinkling of salt and a lime wedge.

*Note #1: If you would prefer to not use liquor in these cupcakes, you can absolutely omit it from both the cupcakes and the frosting with no problem. If you do omit it, I would add 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract to the frosting.
*Note #2: I used a Wilton 1M tip to frost the cupcakes.

Who Knew?!? Milk of Magnesia as a Foundation Primer

Recently I was looking for a foundation primer that actually worked to control oil. My skin isn't quite as oily as it used to be, but I still have problems getting my foundation to stay on for hours and I still get a bit of grease on my face within a few hours.

I like the Coastal Scents Diva Defense Primer; it's worked great for me but I still get some oil.
I came across some articles where people had used Phillips Milk of Magnesia as a face primer. It's made as a laxative that you drink, but instead of drinking it you put it on your face, then use a primer if you want, and then apply your foundation, and you don't get oily AND your foundation stays on.

I tried it out and it actually worked! Not a spot of oil on my face all night. I was out for a good 6 hours, too.
If you have oily skin problems I'd definitely get it and try it out. I purchased it at Target for $4. Highly recommended. I don't think I'll put on my foundation without this stuff again.

HOW-TO:
1. Wash your face.
2. Shake the bottle of M.O.M. and pour into a little cup.
3. Dip a cotton ball into it and squeeze out a little bit of the excess liquid
4. Swipe the cotton ball over your face in thin layers (try not to go over the same spots too much - you only need a thin layer)
5. Let it dry. At this point you may have a little bit of white residue left over. Just rub it off with your fingers or brush it off with a makeup brush. It comes off easily.
6. (Optional) Apply a foundation primer. I used Smashbox pore minimizer on my bigger pores and then Coastal Scents Diva Defense Primer.
7. Apply your foundation.
8. BOOM! Matte face for hours! :)

About 5 months ago I came across Physicians Formula Gel CreamLiner in Target. I'm always looking for new gel or cream eyeliners, especially since I love wearing different colors on my waterline.
They're $10 for a trio stack for Brown, Blue, or Green eyes. I purchased the one for Brown eyes back then and then recently bought the one for Green eyes.

These eyeliners have been so impressive. They are smaller pots: 2 grams each, and they stack on top of eachother but you can take them apart and just take one to go if you need to. These are creamy and silky and they glide on very nicely.
I especially like the blacks, and all of the colors have stayed on my waterline for the majority of the night, even when dancing for hours. I would highly recommend these eyeliners, as they don't seem to want to dry out. (I know because I use the black almost every day, and I even left the black open for 24 hours by accident one time...wooooops....and it still hasn't dried out)

These are the trios I have so far. I think I'll be buying the other 2 trios soon!

I've come across a few really cute animal beanies lately. I guess they're the new fad. I'm loving them!

Steampunk Is Much Too Fun! / Moving / YouTube

I went to some garage sales today to try and scoop up some old jewelry and such for my new Steampunk stuff. Not much luck though. I wonder where there's a good place to get some of that stuff?
Well the first heart pendant I made sold and I have a new one I just put up yesterday. This one took me forever to finish, but so worth it. I think it came out great and really looks like metal!

It's a new avenue that I'm really enjoying. Being a little more creative with jewelry making. I'm starting to look at jewelry and little chains and charms and things a little bit differently lately. I guess you have to to come up with things like this.

Anyways, the Etsy store was probably one of the best decisions I could have made for my creative outlet. I have to thank everyone for all the wonderful comments and feedback on my items. I love that I can create something from pretty much absolutely nothing, and get positive feedback. It really does put a smile on my face every time I hear something nice about the work I've done. So thank you.

I've been meaning to do a YouTube video for a long time now. I'm getting to it, but I've been sooo busy with website stuff. I just have to do an update video at least. Thanks to everyone for your patience with me and my YouTube channel...I know I've been m.i.a. a lot. It's very hard doing all that I do. But I will be back! :)

Moving:
Soon I'll be moving to Oregon, so I'll be posting some stuff up about my "Adventures In Moving!" lol. I'm looking around Portland to move. Kind of hard to do when you don't know anybody there or where anything is, or where the good areas are, or pretty much anything about the place, and looking for some place to live and a new job. I will make it work! I'm hoping to get into going to some craft shows and showing what I've got there, and wherever else I can make it. I love doing this :)

I can definitely say I'm in a happier state of mind than I've been in since I was probably a little kid and had no responsibilities. Haha. Now I have a lot of responsibilites, but I've finally come into my own and know what I want to do and love doing it. I'm just so happy to.....be happy.

My Next Step: Steampunk Jewelry?

I've been slowly getting into Steampunk jewelry. Although be having "I can do it" Syndrome, I don't want to buy a piece. I want to try and make it! In my previous post I put up a picture of a heart pendant that I just made (so proud of it) out of polymer clay and some watch gears, in a Steampunk style.

I've been looking through a lot of steampunk style stuff today and am fishing for parts to make a piece for myself, and hopefully it will come out cool. If I find that I can make some cool stuff then I'll eventually end up putting the pieces in my Etsy store. But for now it's just a project to have something cool for people to ask where I got it. :)

If you haven't heard of Steampunk, here is an explanation of it that I got from Wikipedia:

"Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, alternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s.^[1] Specifically, steampunk involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century and often Victorian era Britain—that incorporates prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic technology or futuristic innovations as Victorians may have envisioned them; in other words, based on a Victorian perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, art, etc. This technology may include such fictional machines as those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne or real technologies like the computer but developed earlier in an alternate history.
Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of "the path not taken" for such technology as dirigibles, analog computers, or such digital mechanical computers as Charles Babbage's Analytical engine.

Super cool and really interesting. Watch parts are so cool looking when you really take a good look at them. I'm really dumbfounded by how they put together all the gears and parts to make them all move together. But I intend to that that mechanical amazingness and make some cool jewelry out of it!

Something New

A while back (October 31st to be exact), I opened up an Etsy store. (http://www.rocksterize.etsy.com) I had been thinking about doing it for a long while but wasn't really sure about it. I didn't really want to put up exactly everything that I had on my website store on my Etsy store. I wanted it to be different and focus on one thing mostly. Being a new company you have to sort of "brand" yourself. When people think of Rocksterize I don't know what they think yet because I think I'm kind of all over the place so far, lol.

Anyways, so one day I got the idea to start making robots. I made my first couple of robots and they turned out great!...

Then I had the idea to make "robotic cupcakes"...cupcakes that looked like metal. The first ones came out good but I wanted to make them look like worn out metal and rusty sort of. So I found a technique where I could do that. And they came out great, too...

I got some orders and thought this was a good idea to keep making these. I was getting compliments when I was wearing some of the stuff I created for myself, too.

Now we come to the present day and I've got a whole lot more "metal" stuff - more robots, rocket ships, flying saucers, and even some more miniature food items. This is the most fun I've had making stuff out of polymer clay. Something about making something that looks completely like it's made out of metal, but it's made out of clay. Deception? lol maybe. But not to a sadistic manner.It's the same with the miniature food. The more realistic I can make things the more cool I think it is. I mean, it looks like you could eat it but you can't because it's made of clay!
It's a weird, freaky concept to me that I just love the idea of. :)

Yesterday........
I've been getting into "Steampunk" stuff also lately. With this whole "metal polymer clay" thing I've been getting into, steampunk definitely gives me ideas. I got a great idea to make a heart pendant that looked like you could wind it up. I recently came across some watch gears that I wanted to use, and came up with this bad boy here:

I think this is just about my favorite polymer clay creation I've ever come up with. I love it. It'd be cool if I was a genius and could actually make the gear turn when the winder was turned, but it's okay. I think it turned out great. It's up in my Etsy store for $33 here (this took a lot of time and effort to make). I'm trying to get ideas for more things like this. Do you have anything you'd like to see? I love the challenge of making something so intricate and detailed and saying "I can do it!". I tell people I have "I can do it" syndrome, haha.

Last night at the Santa Monica Pier ("Glow")

I was wondering what I was going to do last night. It was a Saturday night and nothing to do?! Shenanigans!! Then my friend Jen called me up and said, "Hey! There's this thing tonight, wanna go?" And I said, "What thing?" And she said, "You know, this thing! It's called Glow. It's like a beach party at the Santa Monica Pier." So I said Booya, let's go!

I guess Glow is some annual art festival with all these light setups and..."artsy" things. Well we got down there and pretty much were like, "Where's all the art stuff?" It really ended up just being a bunch of people at the beach. There was a lifeguard tower with foam coming out of it though, that was cool. But they blocked it off so we couldn't have a foam party unfortunately. I took a picture of that but I took it with my Diana camera so I'll have to wait to develop the film.

I took some cool pictures of the beach though, lol.

Afterwards we ended up going to a place called Bar One in Valley Village. I've been there a few times. They have $2 (really good, might I add) sangrias. We had more fun there than at the pier, which you can see in the pictures, lol.

Fun times as always in this crazy city. I will definitely miss Los Angeles when I move to Oregon, but there are always fun times to be had wherever I go :)

Now that I've got things up and in motion on my blog, I'm going to be a doing a lot of reviews and things on here that I don't show on my YouTube channel. And here's the first review:

So I decided to try it. I already have slightly big lips but I don't think them being more pouty can be a bad thing. I've tried other lip plumpers in the past with no results. Maybe it's because my lips are already a little bigger? Or maybe it's cuz the lip plumpers don't actually work?

When I took out the wand I saw it's very long and it's got a brush applicator instead of a felt tip one. I'd rather it have the felty one, I think those apply better. But this is clear so it doesn't really matter, I guess. It smells like a really sweet cinnamon smell. I can't really stand the smell of sweet stuff so it was a little bit overwhelming.
I put the stuff on and waited. There was the very slightest hint of a "tingle"? Maybe more like a stinging. But only in the slightest so it wasn't bothersome. The tingling didn't get any worse and just kind of faded after about 2 minutes.

I looked in the mirror and noticed that my lips had a little more color to them but they didn't look much bigger. The top lip looked maybe a little more pouty than usual but it was more like a "I have to look extremely close in the mirror and try not to just convince myself that this stuff is actually working" moment.

So in conclusion, I don't think this stuff is worth the trouble. It didn't really do anything as you can see. It's up to you if you want to get it but I'd say save your money.

OHMAGAAA! Rockster Eyes Chrome eyeshadows Sneek Peek!

Hey my Rockster friends!

You (my lovely blog subscribers) are the first to see this! So tell EVERYONE about it! lol.

Anyways, I've been working on a new addition to my Rockster Eyes eyeshadow line. A "chrome"/"metal" inspired collection. Just like the Eye Candy and Eye Flavors there will be this new addition to the family.

They can be used just as a very shimmery eyeshadow, but they are mainly being put out as a "foiling" type eyeshadow. They work best and look best when used wet...sort of like tin foil.

It's still in the works, as I've gotta make new labels, which I haven't even started on the design for it. My labels are 1" round labels so there's not a lot of room to put the Rockster Eyes name and some cool design on it, so I might just make it simple for now, until I can do better packaging in the future.

But here are the colors I've been working on. What do you think? Some are set in stone, some are still in the works, and some are in question. I'm still trying to get everything perfect, because I am a perfectionist. Things just can't be put up for sale if I wouldn't buy them myself! That's just how it goes. So here's some different angles and the colors and whatnot.

What do you guys think? What are you favorite colors out of the bunch? What (if any) other colors would you like to see?

My 2 New Eye Candy Colors!

Hey Rockster friends!

A few days ago I put out 2 new colors in my Rockster Eyes eyeshadow line called Eye Candy, and thought I'd let all of you know about them. If you didn't know, I make mineral/vegan eyeshadows and have got an online store where I sell them, at www.rocksterize.com

The Eye Candy's are super long-wearing, high-pigmented, water resistant colors that would knock your colored socks off. Definitely not your momma's eyeshadows. They're my pride and joy pretty much. I love the Eye Flavors also (which are really shimmery, still really pigmented, but a little more subtle colors), but I'm so proud that I could come up with some eyeshadows that not only I've been looking for for years, but that other people been looking for, too.

Well I've put out 2 new colors and they're caaaaalllled.....drumroll........lol that's not necessary.

Sharkfin's a really nice deep purpley blue with a sliiiight hint of shimmer.

My Rimmel Lash Accelerator 30-day Experiment

Hey all!

I recently did a video review on YouTube on the new Rimmel Lash Accelerator mascara and have been absolutely in love with this mascara. I've always been a fan of Rimmel mascaras. I've used Sexy Curves up until I discovered this one. Now I don't think I'll go back. I bought this at Walmart for about $8. When I bought it they only had Black and now they also have Extreme Black, which I desperately want to try out.

From the Rimmel website:

HERE I AM WEARING NO MASCARA (LEFT), AND (RIGHT) WITH LASHES CURLED AND WEARING RIMMEL LASH ACCELERATOR MASCARA.

I can definitely see a major lengthening effect with this mascara. I've never had a mascara give so much length while volumizing also. It claims to just give length, but I find that it's really really black, it gives almost a false-lash lengthening effect, and it gives you volume, too. It doesn't curl, which is fine because you just use a lash curler to do that.

The only thing about this mascara that seems like a no-brainer that it won't actually grow lashes is that any lash-growing product has to be applied and saturated at the roots of your lashes to actually stimulate the growth of them. You can't just apply something to the hairs themselves and have them grow. It just doesn't work that way. I do always put on mascara as close to the base of them as I can get it but still, you don't want to get mascara on your skin. It just doesn't look pretty. So I guess we will see. It may make them a little thicker and stronger but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed. Either way, I love this mascara just as a mascara and even if it doesn't grow my lashes I will still continue to buy it.

PROS: Lengthens dramatically, volumizes, Seperates all your lashes, long wand, doesn't clump, doesn't flake.

CONS: The only thing that I've seen that I don't like about this mascara is that it smudges really easily with water. If you rub your eye or your eyes start to water, you bet you'll have mascara in your eye! Also the print on the tube wears off really easily.

I can't really say anything yet about the lengthening of my natural lashes because I've just started this experiment. So we will see. I've started at the end of week one of wearing this mascara every day. I'll be updating at the end of every 7 days with pictures and letting you know if this does anything with lengthening.

Because we have no reference to how long my lashes were to start out (I forgot to take pics), we just have to guess. haha. Well after 7 days my lashes are uhhh average? I don't have long lashes on the top and definitely not the bottom. From what I can remember of what my lashes looked like a week ago, they look the same. Let's see what 14 days brings!

Review - Brushlab Pure Ceramic Large Hair Brush

I'm really excited to get this brush! Why, you ask? Well it's the perfect size for my bangs, of course!

I just received this brush. It's the Brushlab Pure Ceramic Large Hair Brush. *If you haven't read my other reviews on the brushlab products just search at the top, "Brushlab" in my blog and they should come up :)

It's $10.98 on the website. This brush is ceramic and white colored, with a black handle. It's pretty long, about 11", probably to do with the pointed handle. I've found the handle point really great for parting hair, especially if you're using it to make waves or curls and want to seperate sections, without having to use a seperate tool.

It's smaller than the pink/purple Ceramic Flow Thermal Round Barrel, which I love and still use. That one's about 2" diameter, while the Large Hair Brush one is 1 1/2" diameter (I don't know why they call it Large when it's smaller, lol). It's better for my teeny tiny bangs anyways :)

It's ceramic so it won't burn my hair

(sniff:sniff. No burning smell? Check! Nicely rounded bangs? Check!)

These are totally cute, I have to say right off the bat.

I was sent some mirrors from Brushlove.com and once again I'm not disappointed.

They're called Satina Spectra Handheld & Desktop Mirrors.

I got the 3 different kinds, which are 3 different colors and 3 different sizes.

First one is the green one. It's the largest one and it's a lime green. Really good size for a regular desktop mirror.

*oh, did I mention that the handles fold back so it acts as a stand to hold the mirror up?! I think it's totally ingenius actually*

The second is a pink one. It's smaller than the green one. I think it would be great for young girls to add to their desks. It's soo cute!

And the last one is a blue one. It's a round mirror, about the same size as the pink one.

They've all got two sides to them, just a regular mirror and the other side is magnified. I think the "kickstand" feature is an ingenius idea cuz you can hold it in your hand easily or you can put it on your desk if you're using both hands.

Viper Room Fun Last Night!

Well I went out last night, had a lot of fun. I'm never staying out til 4 again though! Geeeez! lol

I didn't get too many pictures, but I went out to the viper room with my friend jen and my friend vanessa, to watch them do an acoustic show at the Viper Room in Hollywood.

Then we went to eat at Mel's Drive-In. I hate eating that late, I feel like an animal eating that late haha.

We saw Ron Jeramy there with some people. I've probably seen him more times in Hollywood than any other celebrity...he's everywhere!

I didn't get a picture with him cuz I'm not big on bugging celebrities when they're out with friends or whatnot. But then I thought about it afterwards and thought I should get one to put up here on my blog! Derr!

So next time I see him I'll take a pickchaa!

Brushlab Brushes Review

I was sent some brushes from a company called Brushlab, to try some of their hair brushes.

They sent me 3 brushes, which I think are all super cute, and all work differently in their own ways!

I found them to be of really good quality, and are about $7 and up, and they come in the cutest colors :)

The first brush is the Brushlab Pronto Ionic Nylon Bristle Hair Brush.

The website says: "Static resistant hair brush creates negative ions for smoother, healthier hair."

The bristles on it have a plasic feel, I'm guessing they're nylon, they arent too tough, and aren't flimsy, which is good! I want something to actually go through my hair and get down to the roots.

I used it while blow drying my hair and after and I had no static, and my hair was smooth.

I don't know how the brush actually works to get rid of static, but I know it did a good job.

And the color's really nice too.

This one is soo cute! It's the Pretty Pink Dual Mirror Brush Combo Hair Brush.

It's $9.98 on the website.

I thought it was a little weird at first, a round-shaped brush.

It's for styling and detangling. I think it's more cute than anything!

But the little pink ball things at the ends massaged my head. It felt really nice.

It was really sturdy and well-made, and it's got a hole in the end so you can have it tie to something if you wanted, or hang it.

I think this would be a great gift for somebody actually, and a good travel brush cuz it has a mirror in the back.

I found it's actually the same exact color as my Rockster bow, Dottie.

Hey, you could style your hair, and then use the mirror to put on your bows! lol. I dunno just an idea =P

I'm not really a purple kind of girl but it's got this gorgeous lavender color on it so I'm sold :)

I haven't really straightened my hair much in actually like a while, but I do straighten my bangs. I figured what the heck and used this brush on all my hair.

This made my bangs straight, it's big enough to not round them too much.

My bangs were softer than when I normally blow dry them and straighten them.

It's probably the ceramic on it. This did the job on the rest of my hair too and I didn't have to use my straightener, and my hair was soft and shiny.

All-in-all I think these are really good brushes and if I could choose my favorite I'd say it's the round barrel ceramic one.

Total Face Brush & Bronzing Brush.

These are pretty decent for $1!

Not the softest but if you need something to put on finishing powders or bronzer, these work great!

Waterproof Eyeliner Pen.

This works great! It works just as well, or even better, than the Maybelline and Revlon felt tip liners...and it's only $1!

The Beauty Encyclopedia - Eye Edition.

These came in Eyes and Lips. I got the eye one, which comes with 12 eyeshadows, 2 cream eyeshadows, a black eyeliner pencil, and a double ended brush/sponge applicator.

Not bad for $5! They're great neutral colors with some shimmer and sparkles (one matte white), and great for a gift I would say.

Pigment's pretty good, not amazingly great, but it's a good gift for someone who's new to makeup, or something who wants to stick with natural-looking eyeshadows.

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation.

This is decently good, I've been wearing it for day use.

It's not nearly as full coverage as my Revlon Colorstay.

Light to medium coverage. Only 6 shades, so that was a bummer, but I found my color.

It takes me layering about 3 layers on before I see anything very good, but it evens out my complexion, doesn't make me break out, and keeps me shine-free for hours :)

I just made some new bows I just had to show you.

I was playing around with my Bedazzler (yes I have a bedazzler! and what!)

anyways, so my friend just got back in town from Hong Kong and I decided to make her a custom bow, personalized just for her :) Something that reminded me of the bad-ass that she is.

Aww, aint I a sweet friend?

Then I made one that reminded me of me...is that conceited? ummmm..errr...I don't think it isss??

So these are what I came up with!

It's the Tisch (top) & the Jen (bottom)

These are so cute, well, I think they are.

She'll probably see this before I give it to her and I'll ruin my own surprise. But oh well.

I thought maybe in the future, if I can get a bunch of the studs and rhinestones, I'll have enough that I can put some "bedazzled" hair clip bows up in the store.
The only thing I'm concerned about though, is when I put the studs in, the material kind of "bunches" a little bit around the stud and doesn't stay flat. I'll have to find a way for it not to do this.

HELLO FELLOW ROCKSTERS!
As you all know if you've been following me on youtube and on here, I'm getting my website up very very soon. I have some people making it (my dad and my brother =0) ) and I thought it was going to be up last week but unfortunately it isn't up yet. No worries though, I know a website takes a while. I just want to get it up for you already dammit!

I still need some more content here and there and stuff but that will come as the site gets settled in. I'm saving up for a mini HD pocket camera so that I can shoot videos of other things besides makeup, like my adventures in hollywood and whatever else strikes my fancy, so there will be some other stuff besides makeup also.

I'm also going to have a music page, which is in the works. It'll feature bands, highlight some good tunes, and also eventually I'll get my stuff up there so you can have a gander at my music. I already have a MySpace music page. There's cover songs on there but that was done all original and it's me singin' =P
I will have Rockster Bows, which are the handmade ones I showed in this video.
I'm just so excited and I hope you guys like the site.

The day I put up the website I will be starting my contest! It's going to be open internationally too so that's pretty awesome for all of you overseas Rocksters out there!

Barielle Advanced Formula Porcelain Skin Brightening Cream

I just bought this product today called Barielle Advanced Formula Porcelain Skin Brightening Cream. That's like the longest name ever, lol.

It's "For age spots, freckles, and uneven skin tone", and it's hydroquinone free. I looked it up online after I bought it and it looks like it's about $20.00 everywhere. I got it at Marshall's for $5.99!
I've been getting a lot of beauty and hair products from TJMaxx and Marshall's lately. They have some good stuff and it way cheaper than normal price :)

Anyways, I don't have super uneven skin and I don't have freckles or age spots, so what did I get it for?
Well I've had acne for about...forever (since about 6th grade) and it still attacks me constantly. Usually these creams and serums that do this also lighten scars a bit too, which I have a whole face full of acne scars unfortunately.
So I'm hoping this will do the job. It might even surprise me and make me look like I'm 12 again! lol doubtful...but hopeful?

There are so many skin brighteners and lighteners out there I have no idea what to get. I don't even know if they'll do anything much for me. But if I can possibly prevent some kind of aging curse then I'll use all the products I can find :)

It says to put it on morning and night.
It's a really really thick cream, but easily blendable and it left my face really really soft!
I mean REALLY freakin' soft!
The smell? Wellll let's just say it doesn't smell like flowers and candy. It isn't unbearable, it just smells a little like a more chemical version of a sunscreen maybe.
I'm okay with it because with all the other yummy-smelling things I put on my face like Burt's Bees and Aveeno it ends up being not all that bad :)

So I guess it's for use all over, and can also be used on the face. I'm just going to use it on my face because I don't really have any other problem areas.

This is just my initial review of it. If it works wonders after a few weeks or so I will do a video, if no video pops up then I guess you guys know it wasn't all peaches n cream. I will do an update on here though and let you guys know!

My Halloween

Halloween was overall pretty dope this year. My friend randomly invited me to vegas for the big night. She texted me asking me if I wanted to go cuz they had an extra spot and I said yes and she said, "I'll be at your house to pick you up in 30 minutes!" lol

It was really fun. I didn't do any gambling, which is probably a good thing seeing as though I didn't bring much money. I actually thought it was a little weird that I didn't gamble even one hand of blackjack, which I love love love that game!

We got there about 6:00pm and got to the hotel, stayed at Excalibur.
We got ready and all dressed up. I loved my costume bytheway :)
My costume was an angel that got beat up and kicked out of heaven.
We ended up going to Tao, at the Venician. There was a line about a quarter of a mile long! No joke! My friend's friend who we were with, her brother used to work there so we ended up just getting right in. Pretty cool!

It was pretty cool looking inside. I'm not really a club person, especially on halloween. I want to go walk on the streets and bar hop and whatnot, if I'm in Vegas! But the girls I went with wanted to go to a club so we went. I had a pretty fun time, although a glass of wine was $12!
HOLY BAJEEZUS!!
So I only bought one glass and said f* that! Haha

My wings to my costume were getting in the way everywhere we went, and being in a club wasn't very much space.
All in all I had a pretty good time.

I'm soooo excited! I haven't put up a video in like a week unfortunately, I will try to get one up super soon.

The reason I'm soo excited is because I've been FINALLY working on my website and will have it up very shortly!

I started making hair clip bows because I wanted some cute ones, and because of the big response from people I run into asking me where I got them, and that they "look so good" :)
I'm going to be starting a Rocksterize STORE.

The store is going to start off with about 5 or 6 of my different hair clips, just to see how they do. If they do well I will put up more and start collections and whatnot.

I handmake all of the bows and put the clips on. I make them super sturdy and take my time with every single one, so that you're not going to be disappointed.

These are great colors, good and pigmented. Cork is a really pretty color.
It's close to my skin tone, so it doesn't really show up too well.
Overall these NYX shadows are great though!

This is a GORGEOUS silver color. SUPER SUPER pigmented, and it was only $2.99!

Here I show it wet and dry.
It doesn't look much different because the color is already so pigmented. There is a slight difference off camera.

I got this for contouring. It's a matte dark brown. Awesome pigmentation, and very fine-milled shadow, which I love because it goes on super smooth.
Great for a smoky eye look!

This one I wasn't so hot about. No matter how much I wet the liner it just wouldn't get darker.
It stays on pretty well, although washes off really easily with water.
They have a Cake Liner (not creamy) that I'm going to go and buy, and see how that works for me. If it doesn't do much of anything, I think I'll stick with my Coastal Scents Gel Liner

This is one of my favorites! Although I can't find anywhere to buy it online!
It's a cream blush from La Femme. They had a few different colors at the beauty supply store I got it at. Amazing pigmentation, and it lasts so much longer than powder blushes I've worn.
This is the perfect "fresh-faced, pink-peach color".
If I find out where to get it online I will put a link :)

This made my hair really super soft and shiny. Olive oil is great for your skin and your hair.
I got it at Sally Beauty Supply for $1.79. When it's on sale it's only 99cents!

Another bunch of favorites of mine. The lip glosses are really pigmented, not too sticky...a little on the thick side, but not enough to be concerned about. They all smell wonderful, too.
The lipliners stay on like nobody's business!
Awesome colors and are hard to rub off (which is a good thing if you're going out and wearing them)

I'm going to do a review on this so I'll just show you it :)

This is another NYX lipliner pencil I got. Good nude color, with a little hint of sheen.

This brush is GREAT! It was only about $2 at coastalscents.com. Animal Friendly and SUPER soft! I love it because it's really thin, great for small eyes, or just getting color concentrated into the crease. I like it because the bristles are a bit long, which reminds me a little bit of the MAC 222 brush. Not quite as long as the MAC one, but does about the same job!
No smell, no shedding.

Just gorgeous! This dries fast (I wouldn't really say 60 seconds though), and is an awesome deep bluish purple color. It's just about the shiniest nail polish also. Lasts a long time, too. For a drugstore brand I would definitely recommend this nail polish.

These are awesome nail polishes. It's from the Zoya Mat Velvet collection. You can use a basecoat, but dont' use a topcoat. They dry to a matte finish. It's so cool!
Only thing is with these, you have to work kind of fast, don't go over the same spot over and over or it will show. It ends up smoothing out bumps though by the time it's dry.
The red is called Posh. It's cool but not my favorite of the two. It dries to a matte satin finish.
The black is called Dovima. This is AWESOME! It dries to an almost "granite"-looking finish.
I think the black would be really cool for guys, because it's not shiny.
Only problem with these though, is because you don't wear a topcoat the polish wears off pretty fast. Mine started chipping the next day =/

How To Spot Clean Your Makeup Brushes

I can't stress enough how important it is to clean your makeup brushes!
One use from a makeup brush can get tons of bacteria and oils from your face onto your brush and leave you with a dirty mess.

I spot clean my brushes after just about every use using a brush cleaner.
MAC has one for $11, and I have the Smashbox one (it's $15).

It's super simple and you will thank the heavens (or the company that made the brush cleaner) that they helped you clean your brushes! :)
Spot cleaning removes surface color and oils and dirt from your brushes, only takes a second, and your brushes are dry in about 10-20 minutes.

They stay soft and last a lot longer, and the color payoff of your shadows is MUCH more true-to-color than if you didn't clean them.

In the next brush cleaning video I'll show how to deep clean your brushes. It's actually my favorite method because I know I'm cleaning them thoroughly, and my brushes smell oh-so-nice afterward!

Lady Gaga's VMA '09 Makeup

I was watching the VMA's on Sunday night and saw Lady Gaga's makeup and was like, "Yep, gonna try that out."

I did an interpretation of it. It's extended out a little bit farther than hers was, at the corners, but I didn't really like the shape she had it in too much. I thought it made her eye shape look a little funny. Although with makeup like this who cares, right?!

...and just an added bonus, my silly face (I can take a little embarassment)...

Black & White Contest Entry

MakeupGeekTV on YouTube has weekly contests. Her contest this past week was to do a look using only black and white.

When I heard about this I thought, "This is totally my realm!" I love to blend light and dark colors together and figured I could totally do it.

I had an idea for eyeliner a while back, to do a checkered, two row liner, and this was the perfect opportunity to do it :)

So here's what I submitted. I'm going to have the super-sped-up tutorial video up soon (I'll put that under this when I've got it up)

How To Make Eyeliner & How To Foil Shadows

In my newest YouTube video I showed how to make eyeliner out of loose shadows and also how to foil shadows and pigments.
I decided to make a written tutorial too, because it was fun, lol.
And just so you can get the full instructions :)

MAKING EYELINER
It's easy to make your own eyeliner. It's fun and you can make just about any color eyeliner you can think of.
I love doing this, and it goes on just as well as any liquid eyeliner.

WHAT YOU NEED:
1) A mixing medium, like the one from MAC, or a cheaper one, like eye drops! (yes, eye drops work perfectly)
What you don't want to use is water because water evaporates and you'll just be left with crumbly, flaky shadow.
2) Any loose shadow or pigment (can be shimmery or matte).
Pressed shadows work too, but you may ruin the shadow if you put the medium right into it. I would scrape off a bit of it and mix in another container.

HERE'S HOW TO DO IT:

1. Put a drop of mixing medium or eye drops into a mixing container, or, I just use the lid of the pigment that I'm using.

2. Dump a little bit of the shadow into the lid and mix the two together with an eyeliner or small angled brush, so that you get a liquid eyeliner consistency.
If the color is too clear in color just mix in more shadow until you get a more opaque color.

FOILING SHADOWS

I also showed in my video how to foil shadows.
Foiling shadows is pretty easy and a lot of fun, you just have to get the right consistency for it to work.
Foiling gets the name from tin foil, because when you do this it can have a tin foil-type effect.
This works with shimmery shadows and makes the color shine like crazy!

WHAT YOU NEED:
1) A mixing medium
2) A shimmery shadow (looks awesome with gold or silver!)
3) A stiff shader brush (a brush that's not too floppy...goat hair bristles work best)

HERE'S HOW TO DO IT:

1. Put a drop of your mixing medium into a container or on your hand

2. Dip your clean brush into the mixing medium. It usually takes me about 3 to 4 drops. You want it damp but not soaking wet. Enough so that when you dab it onto your hand you can feel a little wetness, but it doesn't "paint on" wetness

3. Dip your brush into the shadow to get a good bit stuck to it

4. Start pressing carefully and see if you can get the shadow to stick to it.
You're looking for a creamy paste consistency

5. This is too crumbly so you want to put more mixing medium into another container and dip the brush into it to get it wet
DON'T PUT THE MIXING MEDIUM IN THE SAME CONTAINER THAT YOU'RE MIXING IN
WE'RE NOT DOING THE EYELINER METHOD :)

6. This is what you want. A creamy paste that sticks to your brush and looks really shiny

7. Instead of putting it on like a regular shadow, dab it on.
You can drag down, just don't try to blend and do a "windshield wiper" motion or anything because you won't get the same effect.
SEE THE DIFFERENCE!

I Grew My Lashes Longer!! How'd I do it?

I've been using this product for a little over a month now, called Talika Lipocils Eyelash Conditioning Gel.
I saw a bunch of reviews on it and it seemed legit so I got it.
My lashes have always been pretty short, especially my bottom ones, and would LOVE to see them longer! Who really wouldn't like long, full lashes, right?
It's this clear gel in a white tube with a mascara wand on the end. I figured, easy enough to use.
It claims to grow your lashes longer and thicker in 28 days.

You put it on 2 times a day for the first 28 days, and then once a day every day after that.

I started using it and didn't see any results, but I was convinced it was going to work.
So after about 2 weeks of using it I started to notice it was a little easier to put on mascara on my top and bottom lashes. I wasn't hitting my eyelid with my mascara wand quite as much and could notice a bit of a difference, but only with mascara on really.

Now, about 38 days later (I waited a little bit after, lol), my lashes actually have grown!
I was actually kind of surprised that they sell that product Latisse for god knows how much, as a prescription, and I could get this product for $25 and it works, possibly just as well!

You can mostly notice a difference with the second one (sorry about the red eyes bytheway, in the second one, lol, I had just done a tutorial and used makeup remover. Irritated my eyes a bit)

So it did work! And I'm really happy about it! I've continued to use it after the 28 days, but I'm still using it twice a day. I haven't had any problem with twice a day after the 28 days so I will continue to use it, and maybe they'll grown longer as months pass! :)

"Pretty Lizard" look - using Glamour Doll Eye Shadow

I did another look using Glamour Doll Eye Shadows!

Every time I get new colors they always amaze me. I've never seen a mineral eyeshadow line that has such bright colors, that are sooo pigmented!
I love it, it's really one-of-a-kind.

So for this look I used (one of my new favorite colors) Dino Spotz and also Sterling Glitz.
Dino Spotz is the COOLEST color! It's a reddish brown with a really amazing green iridescent shimmer throughout. It reminds me of a chameleon.
Sterling Glitz is also totally cool.
It's like a white glitter but with white shimmer in it too, which makes it cool because even though it's mainly a "glitter", you don't need a glue to keep it on. It's like a shadow glitter. Haha I couldn't explain it in my video and I can't explain it now either lol.

It's been quite a while since I've put up a video. Yes, I apologize. It's finally amazing weather so I've been living it up at the beach :)

But have no fear, I'm going to record a video tomorrow! Another Glamour Doll tutorial! OMG I got this AMAZING color called DinoSpotz that I'm going to be featuring. It's the prettiest brown with green shimmer...I can't even explain it! It reminds me of a lizard...or a chameleon.

So yes, I apologize for no videos lately, or no blog posts. There are so many websites and things to keep track of it gets really hard sometimes.

Playing Around With Nail Designs

My nails are so long now and it's so much easier to paint them I realize, when they're long, lol.
I've been playing around with painting the tips lately.

Here's my french tips. I've done them in black and in white. I really liked the black tips. I think this is my new favorite pastime haha.

I tried it the first time with the black and just painted a base coat, then painted the tips, then a top coat. When I painted the top coat on it sort of "bled" the black onto the bare nail so the lines were all out of wack :(

So then I tried painting the nail a base color, which I used Innocence by China Glaze. It's a really nice nude pink color (looks just like my bare nail). Then I painted the rest and it didn't bleed at all.
I think the color on the tips just needs something to "hold" on to so it doesn't bleed.

Anyways here's the rest of what I've done so far. It's way too much fun :)

Colors used were of course China Glaze. :)

These are my Strawberry Nails. This was a lot of fun. I was trying to find a brighter green color but just used what I had.
Colors used were Rich & Famous, White On White, and Watermelon Rind.
I just painted the nail with Rich & Famous, then painted the tips, and lastly stuck with a polka-dot pattern :)
I used Seche Clear Base Coat and Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

Orange Juice & Purple Soda

This was pretty much my first "cut crease" look that I've done ever. No joke.
I used some colors in my 88 palette that I haven't really used before.
I didn't even know there was a really nice orange color hiding in there!

I've been wanting to do an orange look for a while. I'm getting Orange Crush soon from Glamour Doll Eyes and am pretty excited about that. Orange is a fun color, of course.

Orange You Beautiful! China Glaze - Japanese Koi

This is one of my favorite colors that I have from my China Glaze collection. Mind you, I said colors, not formulas.
It's a neon color. A gorgeous reddish orange.

Now the formula...It didn't show in the picture but I put 3 coats on and you could still see the white part of my nail. It would be like pretty color and then look at the tips through the polish.

I definitely give it a 10 for the color...very bright and vibrant.
But for the formula, it's very thin and I'm not really a big fan of painting on 5 coats of nail polish.

I would say that if you've got shorter nails then go for it, or if you've got the patience to paint! paint! paint! go for it :)

A few days after painting them this color I decided to try painting the tips with the color Solar Power.
It turned out SO cool looking! I did kind of a crappy job on it but I've been getting better at painting the tips of my nails.

I had such a fun time at IMATS (International Makeup Artist Trade Show) this past Saturday! It was held at the Pasadena Convention Center.

I only went Saturday because I had work on Sunday. Wish I could've gone both days but one day was still fun enough :)

There were so many people there! Every makeup company you could think of was there (well almost) and practically everything was discounted, up to 40%.

I also met a few other YouTube makeup *guru's*.
These guru's are way more popular than me though, lol.

I met the makeup artists from Enkore and Pursebuzz and got a picture with them
look at me an my big ol' smile! lol

I also met Petrilude
He was so nice. He was the only one who actually would have a "conversation" with me, so that was nice.

I wanted to meet xsparkage but she was shopping around for makeup somewhere around the Make Up For Ever booth and I couldn't find her. I would've loved to have met her. Oh well, maybe next time.

GOODIES!!

I would've bought more stuff but I'm not really "rich girl" so I only brought money for essentials.
I ran across two booths called Morphe Brushes and Royal Brush MFG. They both had just about every Coastal Scents-type brush there, and more!! I wish I could've bought more from them. I kind of kick myself for not saving up money for IMATS...although, it was my first time ever there so I didn't really know what to expect.
I bought 3 things which I'm really happy with:

A large oval shadow brush from Morphe Brushes, for highlighters and blending harsh lines.
I'm really happy with the quality of this brush. It's dense and stiff, but soft.
I really needed this brush!
I got it for $4

This is a synthetic fiber large Kabuki brush from Royal Brush MFG. It is exactly the same brush that they sell at Make Up For Ever for $40. I got this brush for $6!!
It's sooo soft and super dense and fluffy

Lastly I got this! It's a 10-slot Brush Roll. It was from Morphe Brushes.
It was $5!!
I needed another brush roll because I have one from Bare Escentuals, but it's small and can't fit my larger brushes, and it's velcro, which I don't really like too much. But now I have two rolls, so I'll probably still use the BE one.
Anyways they had a 50-slot brush roll for $15 and I was thinking I probably should've gotten that one instead so that I could fit all my brushes into one roll. But of course I wanted to be cheap and get the smaller one =/
This is actually REALLY good quality! And I was surprised, for $5. It's a pleather material and I really like the fact that it has ties instead of velcro so that I can actually ROLL it up :)

Anyways I had a super fun time and definitely am going next year. I hope you guys will all go too, so that I can bump into you and get some pictures of fans of my own :) I want to meet you, I really do!

So I just had to throw this in because I thought it was so funny....
I met up with a friend of mine, Adam, who I hadn't seen in about 5 years, since college.
At the bar we were at we turn around and there's this girl with a HUGE sandwich on her shoulder, so I had to take a picture :)

There's No Place Like Home! China Glaze - Ruby Pumps

This is another nail polish from China Glaze called Ruby Pumps. It is one of the first polishes I got from China Glaze, and one of my favorites!

It's a gorgeous ruby red color with red glitter throughout. This definitely turns heads when you wear it! The pictures don't do it justice.
It goes on perfect with 2 coats. It's a little difficult to take off, as it is with all glittery nail polishes.

I've got another nail polish for you. It's called Sexy In The City, and it's by China Glaze! Who else were you thinking it was gonna be by?! lol. Anyways, it's a really intense jewel color. I'm not a huge fan of turquoise, but I've gotten a ton of compliments on my nails since wearing this. So apparently there's some turquoise fan club or something that I don't know about.
This color goes really well with any gold!

Color: Turquoise! It's a bluish turquoise. The epitome of a jewel tone.
Formula: Thin. Not runny thin, just thin.
Coats: 2 coats looked pretty good, but I was getting a tiny bit of cuticle drag. I wanted to cover that up so I put on 3 coats, and the difference between 2 and 3 is that the color becomes a little more solid and bright, and a little more blue.
How It Makes Me Feel: Like a jeweled goddess!
PROS: It's turquoise! Formula is very easy to work with
CONS: A little bit of cuticle drag. May need 3 coats.

White-Out! China Glaze - White On White

This is one of the newer nail polishes of mine. I was a little skeptical about having white nails, but also thought it would be unique. Although I didn't want to look like I painted my nails with white-out!

It actually looks pretty cool I think. It's China Glaze "White On White".
It's just about as pure as white gets.

Color: White, but not quite as white as white-out correction pens, so it still looks
like nail polish.
Formula: Not too thick, but not super thin.
Coats: As with any "cream" or light color, or really light color, it is very hard to get it completely even on the nail. I put on 2 coats and it looked okay, but there were still some uneven spots, so I decided on 3 coats. That did the trick.
How It Makes Me Feel: Like I want to correct some papers!
PROS: Who else really has white nails?! It's fun and unique.
CONS: 1) It really liked to gather in my cuticle bed, 2) getting it completely even is a little tedious.

Coastal Scents Gel Liners & FREEBIES!

I just received my small package from Coastal Scents today! I ordered the Flat Liner Contour Brush and 2 of their gel liners. This time they gave me 3 freebies!

I'm not really sure why I ordered this brush in the first place actually. I didn't need a flat liner brush. I don't even really like flat, squared-off liner brushes. OH! I know why! Maybe it's because the picture on the Coastal Scents website makes it look like it's angled. I should've known by the way that it didn't say "angled" in the name though, lol. Oh well. Enough babble, let's get on to the actual brush instead of my feelings.
It was only $1.99!
It's a stiff brush, but soft at the tips. Very resistant to pressure. It not super super thin, so if you're looking for a really thin line I would look elsewhere. Overall I think it's a pretty decent brush. I like the dual-colored bristles and the mahogany "wood-finished" handle. All-in-all I'd definitely say it's worth the 1.99 price.

Coastal Scents Gel Liners (Silk White and True Black)

I also ordered the Coastal Scents Gel Liners in Silk White and True Black.

TRUE BLACK
Now I will admit, if you've watched my YouTube videos you will know, I have used the black Coastal Scents gel liner before. The reason I re-ordered it is because my other black one was definitely from a bad batch! ...but I used it anyway because it worked decently, lol. I was going to put a picture of what it looked like but I figured I'd just leave it out and tell you it smelled like turpentine and looked like grease build-up on a car engine. This one looked much better :)
It is super black! Goes on very smoothly and a little goes a long way. You do have to let it dry for about 5 minutes until it completely dries, and it's only smudge resistant, not smudge-proof. The only thing is that I don't like it on the waterline. I've noticed it doesn't really go on the waterline very well and I wouldn't think it would last very long either. My favorite black for the waterline is L'oreal HIP in Black. Stays on all night! But it's pretty much only good for the waterline.

SILK WHITE
I ordered the white one because I've been looking for a good white liner for the waterline and also a good white base color. This definitely is an awesome white! Unlike the black, this one goes on the waterline very well. I haven't taken it out for a longevity test yet so I can't say much about that but definitely am satisfied with it.

This time there were 3 of them!

The first one, Fairy Dust, is a sparkly glitter. It's soft to the touch and super fine. It easily can fly everywhere though.
It is a clear sort of white but sparkles in the light with the colors of purple, green, and a hint of gold. Very pretty.

Sterling Glitter reminds me of a really shiny metal that was ground up into little shiny metal bits :)
It is a little bigger consistency than Fairy Dust but is all the same, just as pretty.

The last one here is hands down my favorite, due to the fact that it reminds me of the inside of an opal. It's called Red Comet Sparks. It has the biggest glitter pieces of them all but is an awesome color.
It has pink and green hues and when put on a lot, it's so reflective that it has sort of a wet look.

Pretty Pink! China Glaze - Rich & Famous

I've gotten into this little obsession with China Glaze Nail Lacquer. I love the colors and the formulas, and the staying power!

So I've decided to cover the colors I have and show you what's the whole "deal" with them, so if you decide to go and buy some, you won't go in blindly :)

This first little number is called Rich & Famous. Sorry about my nails bytheway, they're looking kind of bad lately. Also I painted them about 3 days before this picture, so cuticles look horrible.

Color: It's sort of a Barbie pink, with a little more purple in it.
Formula: It can be a little thick, but not so much that it's globbing on the brush. Sort of a medium-thick consistency.
Coats: 2 coats and it was perfect :)

Alright, so I'm having a bit of an issue with my computer right now...It's totally messed up and I'm sad. I'm trying to get it back up and running so that I can make some more YouTube videos!! I need to make more! My makeup addiction is just not being satisfied right now unless I can make videos lol :(

Red Hair Not-So-Red!

So in my last YouTube video I said I was going to dye my hair red. Mind you, my hair was already dyed a dark brown so I knew it wasn't going to be TOTALLY red-red, how I wanted it. So I dyed it once and it came out a plum sort-of color...NOT what I wanted! :(

Then I dyed it once more a hi-lift color (specially for dark hair, available only for salon use) and it came out a pretty awesome dark red. It's a cool color but in my videos you can't see it LOL. It still looks dark brown!

This is the red color it came out, dyed over my brown....so yes, it is red!...sort of, lol

This is the color it's coming out looking like in my videos. Still brown!

I think my new red color may just be a littel camera shy because it's new on the scene. I might attack it in a few weeks with a more vibrant red dye. Maybe it'll soak up a little more color the next time. Absorb, follicles! Absorb!
